Kya Cafaro, an alumna of Gateway to the Arts, has been studying musical theatre for fourteen years and counting. She studied voice, acting, and dance at Gateway since it’s very first day of classes, and has recently transitioned to performance in the professional world. She continues to study all three disciplines in New York City, while auditioning and performing full time, her most recent professional credits including: ‘The Polar Express’ Live Action Train Ride, a Warner Bros™ production, and ‘In the Heights’ at the Count Basie Theatre. In addition to her theatre training, this past July, she traveled to San Diego to study multiple styles of dance, under the primary direction of contemporary choreographers Travis Wall, Jason Parsons, and Lauren Adams, while taking Master Classes with choreographers such as Talia Favia, Chaz Buzan, Teddy Florence, Marguerite Derricks, Al Blackstone, Easton Payne, Wade Robson, Kenny Wormald, tWitch, and Blake McGrath. Additionally, she continues to define herself as an artist through her original music, and study of instrumental music. Creativity is her entire world, and she is thrilled to join the Gateway to the Arts staff and share her ever-growing knowledge of art with all her students.
